Listed here are the key staff members involved with Living Charlotte. Other Atkins Library staff have played a role in the grant as well, including but not limited to Digital Production Assistant Stacy Rue; Oral History Interviewer Tina Wright; Metadata Librarian Joseph Nicholson; former Archivist for Collection Management Christopher Geissler; Local & International Documents Librarian Marilyn Schuster; and staff in our Digital Initiatives department. For the first year of the grant, architecture graduate student Alyssa Nelson worked as our Digitization Assistant.

Meredith Evans, Ph.D.
Former Associate University Librarian for Special Collections
For the first year of the project, Meredith served as Project Manager, acting as the primary liaison to project partners and subject experts. She also had responsibility for the administration of grant funds and library matching contributions. She also recruited and hired full-time project staff.

Dawn Schmitz, Ph.D.
Digital Programs Archivist and Interim Head of Special Collections
Dawn is the Project Manager and direct supervisor of the Project Coordinator, serving as the primary advisor for operational, legal, personnel, outreach, and other issues. She is responsible for planning, writing, budgeting, applying, and reporting for the grant project; and she coordinates the work of library staff contributing to the project.
Rita Johnston
Digitization Project Librarian
Rita is the Project Coordinator. She is responsible for creating digitization workflows, procedures, and documentation; hiring, training, and supervising student and temporary staff workers; communicating with project partners; coordinating material transfers; and keeping the project on track. She also gathers and interprets web analytics data.
